Summer youth event supporting physical activity and sport.
The Cross Skills Challenge is a fun competition of physical activities and sports skills for youth ages 9-14. This event promotes physical activity in a safe environment, enables giving one’s best effort and creates the spirit of competition.
Each participant chooses to compete in 10 of 12 different physical skills. Two of the 10 sports skills must be track running activities. Some activities will be modified appropriately by age. Scoring in each skill culminates in an overall individual score in each age group, and among girls and boys.

Broad Jump Stationary Rowing Softball Throw Basketball Free Throw Push-ups
40-Yard Dash 400-Meter Run Soccer Goal Kick 1600 or 800 meter run Shuttle Run
Two additional physical skills are added after the pre-registration period

The Cross Skills Challenge
Purpose:
A challenging and competitive series of sports skills for school aged students 9-14 designed to engage participants in the appreciation and application of various physical activities. Participants compete in age groups as they are before August 1st of each year.
Effects:
Promotes physical activity in a safe environment.
Heightens community spirit through participation.
Creates the spirit of competition.
Promotes giving one’s best effort.
Creates more awareness of one’s physical abilities through various movement activities.
Supports school and community health and physical activities curriculums.
Participants must compete in no more than 10 events and at least 2 running events.
Events may include age-appropriate distances and modified challenges
Scores are determined by times and efforts in each event. Rankings are determined by individual scores in each event.
