Need for Funding

The Need:

Cuts to school programming, outdated equipment, and limited one-on-one mentorship leave student-athletes vulnerable. Many youth navigate these systems without consistent support, facing compounding challenges impeding their ability to succeed in school, sport, or life.

LSF’s Solution

● Embed mentors and coaches in school and athletic settings.
● Provide forums and workshops on sports and society, leadership, and education.
● Fund individuals and teams to remove cost barriers to participation.

According to the Lewis Sports Foundation’s (LSF) ideals, its purpose includes empowering students to excel in and away from the sports competition environment.

Most LSF programming is open to the public and introduces co-educational lifeskills instruction through the Lifeskills Through Sports curriculum.

The Lewis Sports Foundation (LSF) requests funding to help continue the quality programming that has supported the nonprofit organization since 1999.

Continued funding assists to expand programming, elevate efficiency and improve effectiveness. Fortunately, prior funding efforts and donations have kept up with planning and expenses. Yet, due to the growth of our programming, LSF is on its way to providing an opportunity for more deserving youth.

Donations and support offset expenses such as:

  • Youth Camp Expenses,

  • Equipment and supplies,

  • Insurance,

  • Facility rental, and

  • Apparel and nutrition goods

A majority of the youth who attend LSF activities come from families who otherwise are unable to afford similar sports experiences. However, because this is not a criterion to attend our activities, families are not required to answer questions about economic status.

Specific information on socio-economic breakdown cannot be answered definitively.
The Lewis Sports Foundation serves various populations yearly:

  • Percentage of Ethnic Minorities 70%

  • Percentage of low income youth 80%
